The Anatomy of a Face Wash Soap

Many moons ago, I was approached to create a face wash – one that would deeply cleanse and nourish. Initially I looked into creating a cream scrub or a foam facewash but was drawn back to keeping it as simple as possible by making a face SOAP. Why not add a face soap to my range of beautiful body soaps and add all sorts of wonderful ingredients to cleanse and moisturize..

So I went back to the drawing board and I created a Himalayan face wash bar filled with beautiful pink clay and pink salt!

I was looking for a way to achieve the cleansing, exfoliating and detoxifying qualities of a salt spa bath in a handmade natural soap. That meant that I had to craft a salt soap. In other words a regular soap recipe with a pile of salt thrown in!

After doing my research, I decided to add a different salt to my soap. Enter Himalayan Salt! Loaded with rich nutrients and 84 minerals including iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, the benefits of this beautiful pink salt are many!

Why a Salt Bar is Excellent for Skin

Salt, by nature is grainy and therefore makes for a great scrub. When showering or bathing with it, Himalayan salt increases blood circulation and allows for the skin to soak in ingredients from other products more effectively. Moreover when added to soap, the salt makes a rock hard bar that ends up as smooth as a stone with a lotion like lather. The user will not only get the benefits of the sea salt, but will see more complete benefits from the lotion – such as moisturizing and mild antiseptic properties.

It lasts longer

Another benefit of a salt soap is that it lasts twice as long as regular soap bars in the shower due to the density and mineral content. The bars also weigh up to 25% more than a like-sized bar. If you haven’t tried salt soap, you are in for a treat.

Its an excellent detoxifier

Salt is a natural detoxifier, as the salt absorbs the toxins from the skin. Make a paste out of sea salt and water, apply it to your skin and leave it on for one minute before you get into the shower. Massage the salt off gently in the shower as you bathe. This will not only help detoxify your skin, but will help exfoliate dead skin cells as you rinse it off.

It is versatile

My Nourish Face Wash bars can be used directly on your face for a lovely, refreshing and toning skin treatment. Salt is also a natural antiseptic so for any cuts and grazes, use your salt bar. This quality also makes it a useful shaving bar as it will disinfect those nicks and cuts as you shave.
