Biodegradable Packaging; Why is it so Important?

eco friendly items

When you shop for natural products, it is always irritating if the item is packaged in plastic.  At least that is how I feel...

To me that sort of defeats the purpose of being ‘eco-friendly’. I mean why go through the effort of creating a pure product, only to then wrap it in an earth-polluting package?

Right??!

At Nourish Soaps I only use pure, natural ingredients in my soaps and creams. In the last few years, I have worked hard to ensure all my packaging reflects my 'natural' ethos as well.

Inevitably, as consumers become more environmentally conscious, it is important for companies to adopt sustainable practices to reduce their carbon footprint. At Nourish Soaps, I am proud to be at the forefront of this trend by using biodegradable packaging for my natural soaps. I am excited to share that all of my soaps are packaged in paperboard that is FSC accredited, and all printing on my packaging is done using eco-friendly vegetable-based inks. YAY!

I wanted to dig a little deeper in this blog post to give you my reasons for why I find sustainable/earth-friendly packaging so important. Let's begin with the most obvious reason; it reduces your footprint on the environment...

Reducing the Environmental Impact

The main benefit of using biodegradable packaging is that it has a significantly reduced environmental impact compared to traditional packaging materials. Traditional packaging materials such as plastic and styrofoam are not biodegradable and can take hundreds of years to decompose. On the other hand, biodegradable packaging is designed to break down naturally over time, reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills or oceans. Although I cannot wrap my soap in banana leaves to make it completely earth-friendly, I can opt for packaging that leaves a smaller mark on the earth.

So by using biodegradable packaging, Nourish Natural Soaps is able to reduce its carbon footprint and contribute to a healthier planet. I believe it is my responsibility as a company to minimize my impact on the environment, and using biodegradable packaging is just one step I am taking.

Biodegradable Packaging; Helping to Support Sustainable Practices

Another important benefit of using biodegradable packaging is that it supports sustainable practices. The paperboard used in my packaging is FSC accredited, meaning it comes from responsibly managed forests. This ensures that the forests are being protected and maintained for future generations. Additionally, the use of eco-friendly vegetable-based inks for printing on my packaging reduces the amount of harmful chemicals released into the environment.

By supporting sustainable practices, Nourish Natural Soaps is able to make a positive impact on the planet and set an example for other companies to follow. I believe that businesses have a responsibility to not only make a profit but also to operate in a way that benefits society and the environment.

Then there's YOU!

Finally, using biodegradable packaging is important for meeting consumer expectations. More and more consumers - like yourself - are looking for environmentally friendly products, and packaging is an important factor in your purchasing decisions. By using biodegradable packaging, I am able to appeal to these environmentally conscious consumers and differentiate myself from competitors who may not be as committed to sustainability

I know that you, my loyal Nourish Soap client, appreciate natural and pure products and you care about your health, your family’s well-being, and the environment. Needless to say, I am proud to be able to contribute in a small way to your lifestyle and the sustainability of the planet.  Onward and upwards!!
