I just love trying out new things. I am also convinced that just about any personal care product can be made at home! This week I tackled a new one - deodorant.

Deodorant is a daily necessity for many people, but did you know that you can make your own at home? Not only is making your own deodorant a fun DIY project, but it can also be a healthier and more eco-friendly alternative to traditional store-bought options. In this blog post, I will be sharing a simple recipe to make your own deodorant using natural ingredients.

The easiest recipe to follow. Thank you! –Jane Williams

What's the Deal with Deodorant?

Deodorants are an essential part of our daily routine. They help us smell fresh and clean, and keep us feeling confident throughout the day. However, not all deodorants are created equal. Many store-bought deodorants contain harmful ingredients that can have negative effects on our health and the environment.

reasons to use natural deodorants

One of the main concerns with traditional deodorants is the use of aluminium. Aluminium is a common ingredient in antiperspirants, which are designed to stop sweat. However, studies have linked aluminum to health issues like breast cancer and Alzheimer's disease.

Additionally, many store-bought deodorants contain parabens, which are preservatives that have been linked to hormone disruption. Wow, had I known this I would have made my own much sooner!!

In contrast, homemade deodorants are made with natural and safe ingredients. The recipe I provide below uses coconut oil, baking soda, cornstarch, and essential oils. Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer that helps to soothe and nourish the skin. Baking soda and cornstarch help to absorb moisture and neutralize odor. Essential oils like lavender or tea tree oil have antibacterial properties that can help to eliminate odor-causing bacteria.

Benefits of Homemade Deodorant

So why then would we want to make our own?? Well, making your own deodorant has several benefits. Firstly, it allows you to control the ingredients in your deodorant. By making your own deodorant, you can ensure that you are using natural and safe ingredients. Pretty cool, right?!

Secondly, homemade deodorant can be more eco-friendly. Traditional deodorant containers are often made of plastic and are not recyclable. By making your own deodorant, you can use a reusable container like a glass jar or a metal tin.

Finally, making your own deodorant can be a fun and rewarding DIY project. It allows you to experiment with different scents and textures to find the perfect deodorant for your needs.

So, without further ado - here is my easy natural deodorant recipe!
